What can go wrong

Exit ban. If a local was injured, you may not be allowed to leave Vietnam until civil compensation is settled. Serious injuries can run into thousands of dollars.
Insurance denied. Most travel policies pay only if you held a valid licence for that engine size and wore a helmet. No valid licence or IDP, and the claim can be refused.
Pay-first hospitals. Without a Letter of Guarantee from your insurer, a private hospital can require a 30 to 70% cash deposit before treating you.
Signing blind. Statements and settlement notes are in Vietnamese. Sign nothing you have not had translated, it can pin fault or blame on you.
Missing the claim window. Insurers want the stamped report and medical records filed promptly. A late or uncertified file is the usual reason a claim is rejected.

Do not settle alone under pressure. Step back to safety and call me. I interpret and make sure any agreement is fair and documented.

Do I need a police report if it was minor?

If you will claim on travel insurance, yes. Insurers ask for the stamped report and medical records. Better to have it and not need it.

Can you get to the scene?

Usually the same day, anywhere in central Da Nang, the beaches or toward Hội An on request. Send me your location and I come.

Do I have to pay the hospital before treatment?

For anything beyond emergency stabilisation, private hospitals usually ask for a deposit first. If you have travel insurance, I call their emergency line so they send a Letter of Guarantee and you are admitted without the cash deposit.

My insurer says the claim might be denied. Why?

Most policies only cover a crash if you held a valid licence for that engine size and wore a helmet. I make sure your police report and medical records are complete and correctly translated, the part you can actually control.
