How to file a police report in Da Nang as a foreigner
Your location is only sent when you tap. Nothing is automatic.
Go to the police station for the ward where it happened, report clearly, and leave with the stamped record (biên bản). Your bank and insurer only accept the stamped version. I come with you and interpret so it is right the first time.
- Police: 113
- Station for the ward it happened
- Get the stamped report (biên bản)
- List every item and value
- Keep the original plus a photo
$30/hour, told before we start. I come to you in person, 7 days a week.
Go to the police station for the ward where it happened, and do not leave without the stamped report (biên bản).
Your report only counts with the stamp
1 Right station, not the nearest one
This is the station closest to where it happened, which is almost always the correct ward. If the desk sends you to another ward, that is the one, go there.
Where did it happen?
2 Before you leave, check all five

Do this now
- Go to the ward (phường) police station where the incident happened, not just any station, or they send you away.
- Report clearly and list every item with value: phone, cards, passport, cash. Accuracy is what makes it usable.
- Ask for the stamped record (biên bản). An unstamped note is worthless to your bank or insurer.
- Keep the original and a photo. You will need it for claims, replacements and your embassy.
Do not
- Do not report at just any station, the wrong ward will turn you away and cost you the day.
- Do not walk out with an unstamped note, your bank and insurer only accept the stamped report.
- Do not sign the Vietnamese report before it is interpreted to you, you cannot correct what you have already signed.
- Do not leave any stolen item or its value off the list, an incomplete report weakens your insurance claim.
Da Nang has ward stations across Hải Châu, Sơn Trà, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Thanh Khê, Liên Chiểu and Cẩm Lệ. The right one is the ward where the incident happened. I know which counter handles foreigners and I go with you so nothing is lost in translation.

Common questions
Do I really need a police report?
For a bank chargeback, an insurance claim, or a replacement passport, yes. Those bodies require the stamped report as proof. Without it your claim usually stalls.
They told me to come back later, is that normal?
Sometimes, but often it is a language gap. When I interpret and ask for the stamped biên bản directly, it is usually handled the same visit.
Can you translate the report into English?
Yes. I provide a signed English translation of the stamped report that your bank, insurer or embassy will accept.
